Random Thoughts

I’ve been meaning to update my blog more regularly, but between school, work, being newly married, twitter, and random timesinks, I’ve found it hard to dedicate time to write something worth an entire post. So, today I decided I should write a post, even if it’s just a collection of random thoughts.

Looking forward to the Thanksgiving holiday; my wife hasn’t seen her side of the family since our wedding, so she is really exciting to see her folks, grandparents and the rest of her family. My siblings all are in Mankato for college, so it’s only my folks at home.

I’m getting, or at least attempting to, back into shape for basketball season. I’m in two league this season: church league and city league. This marks the first time I’ve played city league and so far it’s been fun. Easier to stay in shape playing two leagues. It’ll be fun playing ball with my brother in both of these leagues. Maybe I’ll find some of the shooting touch I had a few years ago and be able to keep with him.

My recent job search has occupied a lot of my brainpower lately. It’s soon coming time when I’ll be hearing back from several companies. No more interviews lined, just hoping I get good news from the companies I’ve already spoken to. Not exactly looking forward to making a choice between companies if more than one make an offer.

Really getting excited about seeing the Packers play the Texans at Lambeau in two weeks. It’ll be my first time at Lambeau, as well as my wife’s. Hopefully we stay relatively warm. Depending on how the Packers, Bears and Vikings do during the next two weeks, the game against the Texans could be very important.

Just had my first experience with JMeter a few moments ago. Have an assignment for my testing class for load testing. I still need to write up an analysis on the results of the test. I may need to add my pages to the test plan, but it shouldn’t take long.

Excited about my web applications class. We are looking at JBOSS Seam and it’s been impressive so far. Seam can create a simple CRUD application for you based on the database you provide it (at least that’s how I understood it). This could save developers a lot of development time and allow them to focus on the cool functionality of their product.

Been liking the WP 2.5 2.6 update since I upgraded through Dreamhost’s handy automatic update option. I’m going to test the “publish later” functionality. We’ll see if it publishes this post at the specified time correctly.

Oh, just got an email from Facebook inviting me to my own party. Thanks for the invite Tanya!

Ok, that’s enough for now. Gonna go read, either Robert Jordan’s Lord of Chaos or my Seam book.
